I used to hide, thinkin’ I was free,
But First John told the truth on me:
“Lust of the flesh, pride of the eyes,
Ain’t nothin’ in the Father, it’s all disguise” (First John 2:16).
I tried to cover, but my fig leaves failed,
The Word cuts sharper than the sharpest nails (Hebrews 4:12).
Convicted, I fell on my knees to pray,
I need that mercy, can’t fade away.

Anger and envy had me trapped in chains,
Cain and Abel taught me not to play that game (Genesis 4:7).

But sin’s crouchin’ close, tryna leave me rejected.
I took it to heart, couldn’t fake the front,
“Be angry, don’t sin,” I gotta face the blunt (Ephesians 4:26).
I see myself in the sins of old,
But I’m cleansed by the Word, now my soul is bold.

Each step I’m reminded His grace is the diamond.
